Why Does Our Yerba Mate Taste So Good?
Our Yerba Mate is Fresh
In order to preserve as many fresh nutrients as possible as well as the bright green flavor of the herb we do not age our yerba mate like other mate companies do. Most mate is aged for 1 to 2 years before being packaged and exported. We process our Yerba Mate immediately upon harvest, packing it into triple barrier freshness sealed bags. Onced the process is complete, we load it on the truck and it heads for the port to be shipped out immediately. We do this because we love fresh Yerba Mate.
No Smoky Flavor
We cure our yerba mate using an art we have developed that preserves the natural flavor and also keeps the Yerba Mate free from smoke. Our process protects the natural enzymes that exist in Yerba Mate, insuring that the plant never reaches temperatures that would damage the natural constituents.
100% Certified Organic Yerba Mate
We use one 100% percent certified organic Yerba Mate, responsibly grown without pesticides or chemical fertilizers, preserving the environment where our Yerba Mate is grown. Our Yerba Mate grows in the Southern area of Brazil. The elevation in this area varies from 800 to 1500 meters above sea level. The landscape is formed mostly of rolling hills and occasional ravines and canyons. Small creeks and rivers are a common sight in these parts of the subtropical forest, which is composed mostly of evergreen broadleaf trees, a few coniferous trees, the Paraná Pine being the symbol of the region. The south of Brazil has remained mostly unchanged since the immigration of the European settlers of the area. We gather Yerba Mate from different regions with specific characteristics to achieve our special green flavor. In general Yerba Mate trees favor drier soil, thriving in cooler temperatures, and not standing the heat common to the rest of the country. Yerba Mate trees cannot endure long frosts or snow, though, this being the reason the plant has not been successfully grown elsewhere. Our cultivated trees are about 12' tall and our wild shade grown trees can reach up to 60' tall.
