Drinking from a gourd is the most traditional South American way of drinking yerba mate tea. A traditionally cured gourd can contribute to the taste of your mate. Mate tea is drunk through a mate drinking straw known as a bombilla ( pronounced bom-BEE-ya) made from metal or bamboo which strains out the mate grounds

Maté Factor gourds are harvested and prepared in the traditional fashion, naturally treated and individually decorated on the outside by a craftsman. The finished gourd, being natural, will have its own unique characteristics. The inside and outside the gourd may show dark brown or grey stains that are natural markings.

Peruvian Alpaca silver is an alloy of zinc, nickel, and iron. Alpaca (also known as German silver) has properties similar to stainless steel. Alpaca is bright and shiny and does not rust or tarnish.
