In South American culture, yerba mate is drunk from a cup made from a native grown gourd, through a drinking straw called a bombilla ( pronounced bom-BEE-ya) which strains out mate grounds. A properly cured gourd can bring increase to your yerba mate experience.

Your Maté Factor gourd is harvested and prepared in the traditional fashion, the design painstakingly burned on the outside by a skilled craftsman. Every finished gourd is a unique individual. The inside and outside of your gourd may show dark brown or grey stains that are natural markings on the gourds.

These gourds are all individuals and vary in size. They will hold roughly 6 - 8 ounces.
